Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Steven Gerrard will be a bag of nerves going back to Anfield because his team could get embarrassed.Gerrard has changed a lot at Aston Villa and got them pressing more, working harder and playing with high energy. But they are very inconsistent and if they start against Liverpool like they did against Leicester it could get embarrassing.Villa are playing a team here who can blow you away in a New York Minute and if they switch off at any point it could all be over very quickly.Gerrard won't think of this game as an audition for the Liverpool job.
It's a job that might not be available for years.Jurgen Klopp has got that job as long as he wants unless things go very badly wrong in a big way.But Gerrard will be a contender one day if he can.
