SPFL chase rule change as league body aims to stop 'division' by holding power over clubs

SPFL has asked member clubs to give its board the power to make decisions such as calling the league early again next season if a second Covid-19 spike rears its head.The resolution proposed will require the league body to consult them over issues.But it's designed to avoid a repeat of the civil war that has engulfed Scottish football in the event of a second spike in infections that could affect football in this country once more.The new powers would only relate to issues regarding coronavirus for the 2020/21 campaign and any problems relating to the start date of the 2021/22 season.A letter sent to clubs claims "SPFL rules do not adequately cover the situation where a season has to be curtailed, with a number of games remaining to be.
