A Southerner posted on Facebook about moving to a town in Wigan - and the responses were hilarious. The man, named Jay, asked the Tyldesley Live community group to tell him what the crime rate is like there, ahead of his move from the south of England. "Ok, so as a southerner whose going to be living in Tyldesley soon, on a scale of 1 being the Cotswolds and 10 being East Croydon, what's the crime rate like," he wrote. He was met with some responses about how beautiful the countryside is, and how amazing the people are.

But most of the amusing replies were from long-standing residents making fun of their town. Many sarcastic references to Mort Lane were made, which is well known among residents to be a nightmare for flooding.

Some locals even tagged their mates in the post, which received over 100 comments, pointing out how accurate the responses were.

One Facebook user, called Jason, wrote: "It's not as shabby as down south but Bojo (sic) is trying to level up. "Watersports centre on Mort Lane well worth a visit. "Guided tours of an Indian/Chinese buffet that's been opening soon for the past two years. "If you have teeth, don’t go to Leigh, you won’t fit in. "We are world leaders on pizza/kebab/haircut scene… never a dull moment with those crazy cats. "No need to buy cannabis, just a walk down the Busway breathing in will do." Another resident, named Simon, said there was no need to worry about the crime rate in Tyldesley - particularly compared to London.
