Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson Hon FRIBA (born 19 June 1964) is a British politician, writer, and former journalist serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2019. He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

The level of Covid-19 infections continues to fall across Greater Manchester neighbourhoods, with some areas seeing fewer than ten cases.

A total of 11,522 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on February 9. In the region as a whole, the infection rate is now now 406.3 cases per 100,000 population, which is significantly lower than the England average rate of 665.4. Prime Minister Boris Johnson is set to make a statement on February 21 setting out the strategy of how the UK will live with coronavirus going forward.

It is expected that he will announce that there will no longer be a legal duty to self isolate after testing positive for the virus from the end of the month.
