Halfway Community Council were furious at the proposal to close Halfway library. A spokesperson said: “We will be outlining our serious concerns with many of the council’s badly thought out, slash and burn budget cut proposals that directly impact on those most vulnerable and disadvantaged in our area.“The council should be targeting additional funds to help local communities start to rebuild their networks and groups.“It should be investing in our community facilities and amenities.“Many local groups have gone to the wall because of this pandemic and need public support.“Closing Halfway library is removing a much-needed community facility.“A few years ago, the council made a commitment to us that Section 71 funds from house builders’ money.
