South Lanarkshire coronavirus cases fall by 15 per cent

Rutherglen and Cambuslang remains at the epicentre of the crisis in South Lanarkshire after at least 126 cases were recorded last week - down 17 per cent.

That equates to between 2.07-2.1 cases for every 1000 residents.The Hamilton area recorded more new cases than any other in South Lanarkshire.Figures published by Public Health Scotland revealed there were 622 new cases of the virus between Sunday, January 24, and Saturday, January 30.The number of new cases in the region is now at its lowest since Christmas with 1.94 new cases for every 1000 residents.Last week was the third consecutive week that case numbers fell following a spike after Christmas and New Year.Data for some neighbourhoods where less than three cases were recorded last.
