Hospital appointments could be cancelled, the government has warned, as it launched its 28-page battle plan in an effort to combat coronavirus.
The virus has begun to get a foothold in the UK, with the number of cases increasing overnight from 39 to 51. And Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the approach to the outbreak - moving from containment (the current phase) to delay, then mitigation.
As it moves through the phases, non-urgent NHS treatment could be cancelled, with health and social care services working to support early discharge from hospital and to look after people in their own homes to prevent bed blocking.
