Boris Johnson has approved a £250,000 payoff for a top official he ousted - and said it was "value for money." Sir Mark Sedwill is set to step down as Cabinet Secretary after 31 years working in the civil service.
His departure is thought to be part of a shake-up of Whitehall that has long been touted by political aide Dominic Cummings.
