Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson Hon FRIBA (born 19 June 1964) is a British politician, writer, and former journalist serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2019. He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

Boris Johnson to use Scotland visit to talk up plan for bridge to Northern Ireland

a visit to Scotland tomorrow to talk up his dream of a bridge to Northern Ireland. He will also urge Cabinet colleagues to be more "vocal" in Scotland about the UK Government's role in the economic recovery from coronavirus.

Before his lightning tour of the country the Prime Minister yesterday used the first face-to-face meeting of the Cabinet in London since lockdown to tell ministers to "be more visible" in Scotland and engage more with the Scottish media.

On his visit to Scotland, Johnson is set to thank the military and emergency services for their role in responding to the coronavirus crisis.
