Royal Navy sailors who were reportedly "smashed" had to be airlifted to safety after incoming tides ruined their boozy beach barbecue plans in Cornwall.
According to reports, a rookie seaman became cut off from the group before another who went out to help found himself in danger.Emergency services were then alerted by eight friends and one man had to be winched off at the cliff.A source told The Sun: “These lads left HMS Northumberland on the Saturday with the plan of a barbecue and beers.“They had been out all day in the sunshine and it all got a bit out of hand.
Before they knew it, they were smashed and hadn’t bothered to watch for the tide.“It’s a miracle neither fell. It was pitch black.“They had no choice but to call for.
