A primary school has been forced to close for two weeks after an external catering team member tested positive for coronavirus.
Children and staff at Epsom Primary School in Surrey are quarantining for 14 days after the case was confirmed on Friday. A risk assessment was completed and advice obtained by Public Health England, after which all those who have school dinners were asked to self-isolate.
But as the majority of children currently attending the school have school dinners, the school closed to eliminate the risk of cross infection.
Head teacher Michelle Pollard told Surrey Live she is "disappointed" for families that these measures have had to be taken, in particular "at a time when some normality was returning for our children".
