A serving Scots transport cop has been sacked after being convicted of drink-driving. PC Thomas Griffin, based in Edinburgh, was dismissed without notice by British Transport Police chiefs following a fast-tracked misconduct hearing this week.
Griffin attended the hearing on Monday and answered allegations that he breached the standards of professional behaviour, namely 'discreditable conduct'.He was dismissed with immediate effect by the Chief Constable.In June this year the cop had pleaded guilty to the offence of driving with excess alcohol and was convicted of s.5(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Act 1988.Chief Constable, Lucy D’Orsi, said: “Any conviction of a police officer is a serious matter that undermines confidence in policing.
