Scottish Government to launch Covid vaccine info campaign in bid to stop online disinformation

Jeane Freeman said today the vaccine would not be made be made compulsory for Scots but added ministers would actively work to reassure the public the simple procedure was entirely safe.

There has been concern among health chiefs around the world over the impact of online disinformation which makes false claims over vaccinations.

A recent opinion poll found almost two-thirds of people in Britain say they would get vaccinated for coronavirus but young people are far more likely to refuse a jab than older people.

The poll, by public opinion research firm Kantar, showed 22% of respondents said they would definitely or probably not get a coronavirus vaccine, rising to 38% of 18-24 year-olds.The Scottish Government hopes one million Scots could.
