The Five Sisters Zoo in West Calder to mark the occasion - and looked suitably delighted. The team pampered him with gifts and treats before posting photos of the birthday boy on their Facebook page.
The still spritely Lemur, who has defied the odds as the ring-tailed species usually only live till around the age of 25 in captivity and their late teens in the wild, was then spotted gleefully tucking into a slice or two.His keepers say that at 35, he is a real character, and apart from a little arthritis (for which he gets a daily dose of medicine in his favourite treat - banana), he is still really active and is a favourite with everyone.
