Brent Lang Executive Editor “City of Dreams,” an upcoming drama about a young Mexican boy who gets smuggled across the border, is lining up some heavy-hitting producers as Roadside Attractions looks to debut the film over Labor Day. Sean Wolfington, the executive producer of “Sound of Freedom” and most recently “Cabrini”; Luis Fonsi, a five-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, musician and producer; and songwriter Linda Perry have joined the producing team for the film. It’s a group that also includes Oscar-nominated “Roma” star Yalitza Aparicio.

EXCLUSIVE: Roadside Attractions has claimed U.S. rights to Dreamer, a thriller exec produced by Roma Oscar nominee Yalitza Aparicio, which examines enslaved child labor in the U.S. Inspired by a landmark sweatshop case in El Monte, CA, the film marks the feature directorial debut of veteran producer Mohit Ramchandani, and will bow exclusively in theaters nationwide April 5th, 2024.

Epatha Merkerson (“Law & Order”), Golda Rosheuvel (“Bridgerton”), Finn Bennett (“True Detective”) and newcomer Laken Giles. Elisa Victoria penned the original graphic novel and the screenplay with Michael Tully.

Bird Box Barcelona is a spin-off from Netflix’s breakout 2018 horror thriller.Based on the book by Josh Malerman, the original Bird Box followed Malorie Hayes (Sandra Bullock) as she tries to protect herself and her two children from entities which cause people who look at them to kill themselves.Despite mixed reviews from critics, the film became a huge success. According to Netflix, Bird Box was watched by over 45million subscribers within its first week, breaking records for an original film release on the platform.The film is described as a spin-off sequel – not a direct continuation – which is set around the same time as the original film.

Lee Isaac Chung is on board to direct from a script by Mark L. Smith. The film will be co-financed by Warner Bros.

Diego Calva and Jacob Elordi are set to play lovers in a new film and it seems there are some “pretty hot scenes” coming up, as revealed by the Mexican actor himself. The pair will be starring in Daniel Minahan’s adaptation of ‘On Swift Horses,’ and Diego recently talked to Variety about his experience working with the ‘Euphoria’ star.“It was so cool to work with him. He’s obsessed with photography, he’s obsessed with old plays,” Diego said about Jacob.
