Babylon, the epic period comedy-drama from Oscar-winning writer-director Damien Chazelle, is living up to its epic description, by clocking in at three hours and eight minutes.Set in the 1920s, during Hollywood's transition from silent films to talkies, the film is 'a tale of outsized ambition and outrageous excess, as it traces the rise and fall of multiple characters during the early Hollywood era,' according to Variety.With a star-studded cast led by Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt and Diego Calva, Chazelle has called the production 'definitely the hardest thing I've done' in terms of 'the logistics, number of characters' and 'the scale of the set pieces', on top of the span of time chronicled in the story.
