Iconic actor Danny Trejo is set to receive one of the biggest honors of his career.

Lexi Carson The international distribution company Glass House Distribution has acquired the worldwide rights to “The Private Eye,” a mystery, comedy and romance. The film was written and directed by Jack Cook and stars comedian Matt Rife. Glass House Distribution will represent the movie at the Cannes Film Festival in May with all territories available.

He was the flirty barman in hit ITV sitcom Benidorm for 11 years from 2007 to 2018. But now actor Jake Canuso, who's 54, is unrecognisable from his time playing hottie Mateo Castellanos. Jake starred alongside celebs including Crissy Rock – who's since opened up about her childhood abuse ordeal – as well as Johnny Vegas, Steve Pemberton and Sherrie Hewson, ending up as the show's longest-serving character and appearing in all 74 episodes.

Nick Vivarelli International Correspondent Kevin Spacey will appear as a character named “The Devil” in Italian director Massimo Paolucci’s psychological thriller “The Contract,” which just wrapped principal photography in Rome. The English-language film, described in a statement as having a similar storyline as Alan Parker’s “Angel Heart” and Taylor Hackford’s “The Devil’s Advocate,” also stars Eric Roberts and Vincent Spano, Italian production company TM Entertainment said. Spacey arrived in Rome last December to shoot “The Contract.” Reps for Spacey, Roberts and Spano did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Sylvester Stallone revealed on “The Family Stallone” Season 2 premiere that he never recovered from an injury he endured during the making of “The Expendables” (via People). The stunt gone wrong occurred during a scene in which Stallone got tackled by co-star and WWE legend Steve Austin. It left Stallone with dislocated shoulders and a fractured neck that have since required seven back surgeries and counting.

Benedict Fitzgerald, best known as the screenwriter of The Passion of the Christ, died at home in Marsala, Sicily after a long illness on January 17, 2024. He was 74 and no cause of death was given by his family.

LMN has released its first quarter movie slate that features fourteen new thrillers, including the premiere of the 35th film in the network’s prolific Wrong Movie franchise.

Eric Roberts (“Babylon,” “Suits”) has joined Spyder Dobrofsky’s upcoming feature, “Down Below.” The psychological horror film, “centers around a young sheriff and a criminal suspect who find their lives intertwined when both become haunted by a sinister force on Christmas Eve,” per the official logline. Roberts portrays a police psychologist, who’s having difficulty with his patient, a suspended cop due to an act of violence against a civilian. Roberts is joined by Hutch Dano and Christopher Livingston.

Completely traumatized by the situation, Alex desperately sets off with his friends and conspiracy theorists to discover what really happened to his girlfriend. While traveling through the desert, Alex and his friends are faced with the unexpected, pushing the group to fight for their lives. “Lumina” stars Eric Roberts, Rupert Lazarus as Alex and Eleanor Williams as Tatiana, with additional cast members hailing from Hollywood to London. The film is produced by David Seychell, Gino, Lynda and Hudson McKoy. Academy Award-winning editor Thom Nobel serves as the production’s editor. 

Joe Otterson TV Reporter HBO Max’s “The Batman” spinoff series “The Penguin” has cast Clancy Brown in a recurring role, Variety has learned. Brown joins a cast that includes series lead Colin Farrell, who will reprise the role of Oswald “The Penguin” Cobblepot from “The Batman, as well as Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Deirdre O’Connell. Brown will appear as Salvatore Maroni, a notorious Gotham City crime boss. The character was referenced repeatedly in “The Batman,” as his arrest by corrupt Gotham officials and the collapse of his criminal empire allowed for Carmine Falcone’s organization to rise. Maroni has previously been portrayed onscreen by actors like David Zayas in “Gotham” at Fox and by Eric Roberts in “The Dark Knight.”
