Samuel Goldwyn Films has picked up the U.S. rights to Craig Pryce’s The Marijuana Conspiracy, which stars Julia Sarah Stone, Morgan Kohan, Brittany Bristow, Tymika Tafari and Kyla Young.
The indie drama from Pot Luck Films recounts a real-life Canadian cannabis study in 1972 where 20 young women endured a controversial 98-day human experiment to study the effects of marijuana ahead of possible decriminalization of the recreational drug.
Samuel Goldwyn Films plans an April 20, 2021 day and date release domestically, while Vortex Media will release the film in Canada. "The Marijuana Conspiracy looks into the lives of these women and tells a story that needs to be known.
