Rory McIlroy broke down in tears during an emotional interview after he had a disastrous Ryder Cup at the weekend. The four-time major winner was tipped to be a star player for Europe at Whistling Straits but suffered three defeats as he had a nightmare out on the course over the first two days.
His American wife Erica Stoll had travelled to the tournament to offer her support but it didn’t stop the Irish golfer from feeling deflated.
He did manage a singles victory on Sunday but McIlroy welled up as he spoke to reporters about just how much the competition means to him.
