Michael Kirk Douglas (born September 25, 1944) is an American actor and producer. He has received numerous accolades, including two Academy Awards, five Golden Globe Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and the AFI Life Achievement Award.
The elder son of Kirk Douglas and Diana Dill, Douglas received his Bachelor of Arts in Drama from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His early acting roles included film, stage, and television productions. Douglas first achieved prominence for his performance in the ABC police procedural television series The Streets of San Francisco, for which he received three consecutive Emmy Award nominations.
US actor Richard Herd has died of complications from cancer at the age of 87. The star was best known for his role as Mr Wilhelm on the hit series Seinfeld, playing a New York Yankees executive who supervised George Costanza (Jason Alexander).
Herd died at his home in Los Angeles on Tuesday, with his family by his side. Born in Boston, he made his film debut in the 1970 flick Hercules in New York.
Nine years later, Herd enjoyed his first big break, starring alongside Jane Fonda and Michael Douglas in the thriller The China Syndrome.
Herd was beloved by sci-fi buffs, thanks to his roles in the NBC miniseries V and the 1984 sequel V: The Final Battle, in which he played a Visitors' Supreme Commander named John.
