Trainspotting, signed by director Danny Boyle, fetched a record £1764 at auction.The iconic artwork promoted the 1996 film ahead of its release in cinemas.The 30x40-inch poster – in “near mint condition” – was among highlights in Sotheby’s online sale of Original Film Posters earlier this week.It was snapped up by an anonymous collector for more than double its £500 to £800 estimate – and £389 more than the previous record for a Trainspotting poster.Sotheby’s said: “It is rare for anyone to have an original poster signed as the majority of signatures are on pieces of paper, photographs and video/DVD sleeves.”It was owned by collector Surgit Sohal, who sought out film icons to sign his posters.Don't miss the latest news from around Scotland.
