Ayrshire helped raise thousands of pounds for cancer charities by staging a friendly 'Old Firm' clash.The event, organised by amateur football outfit Glenafton AFC, was held on Saturday, May 22 in aid of the Beatson Cancer Centre and Sarcoma UK.And more than £2,000 was raised after the community rallied behind the fundraiser at Greenhead playing field, New Cumnock.Players volunteered to turn out for their chosen side with both teams kitted out for the occasion.The match was sponsored to the tune of £500, further boosting the charity coffers.A post on Glenafton's Facebook page thanked all who took part, adding: "Absolutely incredible, there’s honestly no words can describe how much this means."Thank you to everyone who donated, took part in.
