Manchester City star Aymeric Laporte has been praised for his heartwarming gesture to the father of late Olympic boxer Alexis Vastine.

Vastine won a bronze medal during the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the light-welterweight division but sadly died in a helicopter accident in Argentina in 2015, aged just 28.

His father Alain opted to donate his son's boxing gear to the fund set up by international handball player Cyril Dumoulin in order to raise funds for health workers during the current global crisis.

Dumoulin said of his donation: "An INCREDIBLE donation from Alexis Vastine's dad. Thanks to his generosity we can put on sale the outfit of the London Olympics by Alexis Vastine." Laporte had no intention of allowing him to lose the sentimental
