The Queen has appointed a Royal Marines officer as her equerry, one of the most important positions in the royal household. Major Tom White will take up the position, of the Queen's right-hand-man, next month in what has been described as a "deeply significant" move.
This appointment has reportedly given the Royal Marines a much needed boost after the Prince Harry walked away from his role as captain general of the marines earlier this year.
