Prisoners at 'Monster Mansion' jail 'to make PPE for NHS frontline workers'

Inmates at a prison dubbed 'Monster Mansion' have been ordered to make PPE for NHS staff, according to reports. Eight prisons across the UK have tasked inmates to make scrubs and face visors for frontline workers as the battle against coronavirus continues.

The move is a way of saving the NHS money in light of surging prices for PPE, Justice Secretary Robert Buckland reportedly said.

The items will cost only around one third of current market rates, Mr Buckland told The Daily Telegraph. Most of the eight prisons taking part are category B and C prisons, but one is said to be HMP Wakefield - a category A facility.
