A murderer who told staff he never wanted to enjoy his freedom again died in prison. In 2007 Russell Gainford was jailed for murder, burglary and sexual assault.
Gainford was being held in HMP Frankland - where some of Britain's most notorious criminals are held - including Ian Huntley and the Yorkshire Ripper, reports Chronicle Live.
The nature of the infamous inmates has earned the County Durham jail the nickname 'Monster Mansion'. Gainford, who had a raft of health problems, died last October at the age of 71.
