royal fans are aware of the Queen's endearing 'Lilibet' nickname – but some might not know that Prince Philip had another rather strange one for her too.

But the Duke of Edinburgh, who married Elizabeth in 1947, based his loving nickname for her off of a vegetable. It was first revealed in the 2006 film 'The Queen' that Philip would refer to his wife as "cabbage".In one scene Philip remarks to the Queen to "move over, cabbage".Robert Lacey, a royal biographer, confirmed this to be true that very same year in an interview with The Sunday Times.Prince Philip also had a hidden nickname and allegedly only his close staff and friends were able to call him by it, according to a leading historian.
Adrian Tinniswood, author of Behind the Throne: A Domestic History of the British Royal Household, lifted the lid on Prince Philip's exclusive nickname.Friends and close staff would call the Duke of Edinburgh "P.P" – a shortening of Prince Philip. And according to Tinniswood, P.P was the Royal staff's favourite member in The Firm.
