Serie A matches could be played behind closed doors until next year in order to avoid another coronavirus outbreak - with Premier League chiefs set to study the Italian government’s plan.

The Italian FA are looking to test all players for coronavirus at the start of May ahead of a potential return to action on May 31.

Despite registering over 20,000 deaths from COVID-19, Italy will relax some of their lockdown restrictions on Tuesday after seeing their lowest daily rise of deaths since March 19 on Sunday.

And a leaked document from the Italian government states that matches will be played behind closed doors to ensure social distancing continues.
