The 20-year-old took time to adjust to his new surroundings having guided Ajax to Eredivisie glory last season, and grew into his role having been tasked with filling in for the injured Giorgio Chiellini.
However, news has emerged in Spain that a move away from the Serie A leaders later this year is a shock possibility, and Juventus could decide to sell on for more than the £77m they paid in August.
