police officer has been suspended after arresting a paramedic who was rushing a patient into a hospital.The strange incident took place at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York, and was actually caused by the policeman parking in a marked ambulance bay.The paramedic hit the officer's door with the ambulance door, which sent the unnamed man into a fit of rage yesterday (Monday, July 18). READ MORE: Marbella shooting: Gunman opens fire at club 'injuring five – two seriously wounded'Although police are allowed to park in ambulance bays, the spot the officer was stationed in was the emergency drop-off zone in front of the emergency department.The officer asked the female paramedic for ID, who was attempting to get her patient into the hospital.Having been followed by the officer while taking the man on a stretcher, she was then forcibly pulled back – after checking the patient in – and taken outside to the cop car.The pair then had a discussion, and the incident was dropped – but the officer was suspended for 60 days when video footage of the incident went viral.A spokesman for the ambulance team said: “Our leadership and employees sincerely appreciate the outpouring of support through social media for our highly valued employee that was put in an untenable situation.“We steadfastly stand by her prioritization of the care for her patient and are blessed by your willingness to publicly support her patient advocacy.“We would, however, appreciate resisting derogatory comments against RPD as an organization.
