Get the biggest and brightest stories sent straight to your inboxPolice have declared a “major incident” after an “extremely toxic” poison was stolen.The rat control chemical Talunex was inside a Ford Transit van which was stolen in Darwen, Manchester, in June.The van was recovered on Wednesday in nearby Blackley – but the box containing the pellets was nowhere to be found.Detectives fear the deadly pellets could end up being eaten by an unknowing victim.Talunex is an Aluminium Phosphide-based chemical which is commonly used to control vermin.The chemical has been described as "very toxic" if swallowed, and emits a toxic gas if placed in contact with water and acids.
