Plus-size is one of the only clothing sectors to have grown this year, so why isn't there more choice?

catwalks of Milan. But during last Friday’s Versace show, not one but three plus-size models walked the runway in slinky cut-out skirts, crop tops and bright print dresses.

A few days later, Karen Millen launched its curve collection in the UK, releasing tailored jackets, dresses, jumpers and skirts for women size 18 to 24.

While the two brands sit at different ends of the retail market, both used similar silhouettes, prints and cuts as they do in their smaller collections, just in bigger sizes.That sounds logical but a lack of brand continuity is a problem plus-size customers have faced for years.

The few higher-end retailers that do cater to women above a size 16 often end up making bulky clothes in dark colours that bear little.
