Plea to reinstate compulsory face mask rules branded 'totalitarian' by Tory chief

People have not had to wear face coverings in shops or on public transport since all social distancing restrictions were lifted on July 19.

However, Rochdale ’s Labour group moved a motion at Wednesday’s full council meeting, urging ministers to reverse the decision ‘to drop the mandatory mask mandate that has kept the public safe for the last year’.
