Plans for the first affordable shared-ownership apartments in Manchester city centre have been unanimously approved.Clarion Housing Group had sought planning permission to build 66 flats in an apartment block alongside the Ashton Canal.The homes inside the split-level building, which will include a roof terrace, will be aimed at graduates, young professionals and other ‘economically-active households’.A total of 46 two-bedroom apartments will be provided alongside 17 one-bedroom flats and three two-bedroom townhouses.Rachel Hollins, head of partnerships at Clarion, told Manchester's planning committee that shared ownership is designed to help first-time buyers onto the property ladder.“The proposal is for all 66 dwellings to be shared.
