Piers Morgan warns Harry and Meghan ‘tension’ will erupt as Queen absent from service

Piers Morgan couldn’t help a jibe at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during the Platinum Jubilee.The TalkTV host hinted that “tension” between the royals could get worse amid the Queen’s confirmed absence from Friday’s (June 3) National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral.Buckingham Palace confirmed the monarch, who is celebrating 70 years on the throne, will be absent tomorrow after pulling out “with great reluctance” after experiencing “some discomfort” during Thursday’s Jubilee celebrations.The full statement added: “Taking into account the journey and activity required to participate in tomorrow’s National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral, Her Majesty, with great reluctance, has concluded that she will not attend.”But speaking on his talk show, Piers suggested that “tension” between the Queen and Harry and Meghan could get worse without the Queen there as “glue” to hold everyone together.Piers said sources at the Palace told him that the Trooping of the Colour parade had been “tense” behind the scenes, describing the atmosphere as “frosty”.He said: “The rest of the family went into the garden and were milling around and they [Meghan and Harry] just disappeared.“So there is already a lot of tension there and the only glue it seems in the whole tension is The Queen, and she’s not going to be there [tomorrow]!”Jockey and guest on Piers’ show Frankie Dettori added: “When you look at The Queen’s schedule for the next three or four days it’s really so much and we forget she is a great old age of 96. “And also she’s going to miss the Derby on Saturday, which is probably the first time in over 50 years.
