Angelique Jackson It’ll be a fall family reunion for the “My Big Fat Greek Weeding” clan, with Focus Features dating the third film in the franchise for a worldwide theatrical release on Sept. 8, 2023. Nia Vardalos wrote and directed the new film, starring alongside returning cast members John Corbett, Louis Mandylor, Elena Kampouris, Maria Vacratsis, Andrea Martin, Elias Kacavas, Gia Carides, Joey Fatone and Lainie Kazan. Elias Kacavas and Melina Kotselou join the family this time around. Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson and Gary Goetzman — who’ve produced all three movies — also return, with Paul Brooks, Scott Niemeyer and Steven Shareshian serving as executive producers.

Charlie Amter The surviving members of New York trio Ivy are taking a look back this year at one of their most beloved albums, “Apartment Life,” which is celebrating a 25th anniversary. The group was one of two ’90s-era indie acts to feature the late Emmy- and Grammy-winning musician Adam Schlesinger, who in addition to being a key member of both Ivy and Fountains of Wayne wrote music for the 1996 Tom Hanks vehicle “That Thing You Do!” and “Crazy Ex Girlfriend,” among others. On March 3, Bar/None Records will drop a reissue of the set, with two previously unreleased tracks, and Variety can exclusively reveal that the band will also release a Record Store Day exclusive of the demo versions of “Apartment Life” (in the same sequence as the final studio record) on Saturday, April 22; the “Apartment Life” demos will also be available on streaming services from July 21 onwards. We share one of the demo version songs (“I’ve Got A Feeling”) below, and talk with the surviving members of Ivy, Andy Chase and Dominique Durand, about the record, how they got their masters back, and the song from the album that Schlesinger — who passed away in 2020 from coronavirus complications — said was his favorite.

Jemisin’s bestselling “The Great Cities” duology, “The City We Became” and “The World We Make,” with the intention to develop both books into an ongoing series. “The City We Became” is set in an alternate version of the world, where major cities like New York City become sentient through human avatars. After the avatar of New York falls into a supernatural coma and vanishes, a group of five new avatars representing New York’s boroughs come together to fight their common enemy and save New York — and, potentially, the world. The collection marks Jemisin’s first books after her “Broken Earth” Trilogy, which comprised 2015’s “The Fifth Season,” 2016’s “The Obelisk Gate” and 2017’s “The Stone Sky.”

Lionsgate is set as the distributor for the action-comedy Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, helmed for Miramax by Guy Ritchie.  Anna Faris is making career moves.The 46-year-old actress has signed with mega-agency CAA, which boasts A-list clients like Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, and Reese Witherspoon. She has signed with the agency in the past and is putting her trust in them again to further her career after a two-year acting hiatus and a recent flop at the box office with The Estate.  Making movies: Anna Faris (pictured above in 2018) has re-signed with agency CAA alongside clients such as Reese WitherspoonFaris starred alongside Allison Janney in the hit CBS sitcom Mom from 2013 to 2020 playing a newly sober single mom trying to get her life back together after moving in with her own mom (Janney). The House Bunny star left the series in a shock exit after seven seasons and CBS cancelled the show shortly after, airing just one more season after her departure. The move to new representation comes at an interesting time. She took a two-year break after leaving her sitcom and her latest dark comedy The Estate, co-starring Toni Collette and David Duchovny, received poor reviews and has a 29 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.Besides her film and television career, she also hosts a successful podcast called Unqualified.
