Sasha Urban editor“Holiday Twist,” an upcoming feature from ETM Pictures, announced on Thursday that a group of cast members added to the film, with production up and running in Los Angeles.Sean Astin (“Lord of the Rings”), Neal McDonough (“Yellowstone”), Haley Reinhart (“F is for Family”), Emily Tosta (“Mayans M.C.”) and Brian Thomas Smith (“Big Bang Theory”) will join the film, which is led by Kelly Stables (“Superstore”), and features James Maslow and Hugh Sheridan.Per ETM: “The story centers on Stables’ character, a Grinchy workaholic CEO whose whole world comes crashing down, before, with help from a Supermarket Santa and a little holiday magic, she realizes the key to letting go of her painful past is to become the twinkling light that both her town and her family needs.” Astin was most recently seen in the historical drama “Changing the Hearts of Men,” alongside Kelsey Grammar. McDonough played a recurring role on the second season of “Yellowstone,” the hit western series on Paramount Network, and also appeared on “Justified.” Reinhart is best known for placing third on Season 10 of “American Idol,” while Tosta has appeared on all four seasons of “Mayans M.C.” and Smith has been recently seen in a recurring role on “United States of Al.”The film is written by Stephanie Garvin (“The Trial of the Chicago 7”) of ETM Pictures, who also directs the film.

Stranger Things have expressed their regret over killing off a new character in the first episode of season four.Seven new episodes (or ‘chapters’) of the hit sci-fi fantasy landed on Netflix late last month, serving as the first volume of the current run. Two final instalments (titled ‘Papa’ and ‘The Piggyback’) will be released on July 1.In episode one of Stanger Things 4, viewers were introduced to popular Hawkins High student Chrissy Cunningham (played by Grace Van Dien) who’s experiencing distressing visions and other forms of psychological torment.As well as attending school counselling sessions, Chrissy meets up with Hellfire Club leader Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) to buy some drugs.

According to National Geographic, state officials confirmed that timbers from the shipwreck of the 17th-century Spanish galleon were found in sea caves earlier this week.The legend of the Santo Cristo de Burgos reportedly inspired filmmaker Steve Spielberg to dream up the idea for the 1985 movie — about a group of kids out to seek a sunken ship’s pirate booty and save their family homes from foreclosure.For 300 years, tales of the shipwreck spread, with the area’s indigenous tribes passing down the legend of a ship that had vanished off the Oregon coast around 1693, carrying porcelain, beeswax and pricey Chinese silk.The new discovery “confirms that our ancestral people knew what they were talking about,” Robert Kentta, cultural resources director for the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz and a member of the Siletz Tribal Council, told National Geographic.The recovery required a team of archeologists, law enforcers and search-and-rescue specialists, who have been searching for the past 15 years. According to National Geographic, powerful tides made for a tricky and dangerous operation that had to be perfectly timed.

The Lord of the Rings fellowship – well, part of it – reconvened for another meeting this weekend to celebrate 20 years since the second film in the famous trilogy was released. Actors Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd– who played hobbits Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Merry Brandybuck and Pippin Took – enjoyed a night out which concluded with some seriously delicious-looking desserts. Lost star Dominic, 45, shared a heart-warming snap of the group as they posted around a dining table.

HBO’s Perry Mason will see a handful of new faces as Sean Astin (Stranger Things), Tommy Dewey (Pivoting),  Oscar-nominee Paul Raci (Sound of Metal) and Jen Tullock (Severance) join the cast for Season 2. Stephen Colbert has been singing the praises of The Lord of the Rings for 20 years, and now, as he says in last night’s musical tribute, he’s ready to rap. Joining him in “The #1 Trilly” – short for trilogy – are some folks who know their way around Middle-earth: Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, Hugo Weaving, Andy Serkis, Orlando Bloom and Viggo Mortensen.

When it comes to photobombing, Sean Astin is a repeat offender.

After indelible roles in The Lord Of Rings trilogy, Rudy and Goonies, Sean Astin is vying for a a new one. He’s declared his candidacy for the National Board of the Los Angeles Board of SAG-AFTRA and as a delegate. When I interviewed Astin recently for a 20 year look back on the uphill battle making LOTR, Astin mentioned his aspiration to do this, and the importance to him of living up to the legacy of his late mom Patty Duke, who served as SAG president from 1985-88. His father is the late The Addams Family star John Astin.

Richard Donner, the director that launched Superman on the big screen and elevated the buddy movie to blockbuster status with Lethal Weapon as part of a five-decade film and TV directing and producing career, died Monday at age 91. Goonies never say die!  Frozen star and The Goonies #1 fan Josh Gad rounded up the original cast members of the classic '80s film on Monday for an iconic virtual hangout.  On the roster? Sean Astin, Corey Feldman, Jeff Cohen, Ke Huy Quan, Kerri Green, Martha Plimpton and Josh Brolin.   "Today, I am going on my own treasure hunt to reunite the cast of The Godfather of its generation: The Goonies," Gad said at the start of the first episode of his new YouTube series, Reunited Apart before introducing Astin (who played Mikey).  "All right, how do we do this? Do you guys, like, Zoom?" Gad asked Astin before the rest of the cast made an appearance.
