The list of the highest paid figures in entertainment has been revealed, and some of the top slots might come as a surprise.

Forbes has published its annual breakdown of the highest-paid entertainers, revealing that Taylor Swift, The Rolling Stones and Bad Bunny were among the biggest revenue-raisers in 2022.Swift came ninth on the list, totalling $92million in earnings between the release of her ‘Midnights’ album last October and subsequent ticket sales for her upcoming ‘Eras’ tour. It marks her sixth time on the highest-earners list, having previously topped it in 2019.

Genesis landed atop a top 10 list of the highest-paid entertainers of 2022, bolstered by a massive catalog sale last fall, as well as revenues earned from touring and streaming.The musical ensemble of Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford were named to the top spot of the Forbes list with $230 million in revenue after they sold their catalog to Concord Music Group in September for a total of $300 million.The $230 million total also included streaming totals from Collins' work as a solo artist, according to the outlet.Coming in second on the list was Sting with $210 million, after The Police front man sold his full catalog to Universal Music Group for $300 million prior to fees, Forbes reported. Tyler Perry was third on the list with $175 million, as the multi-talented entertainer garnered the total from multiple proceeds from his films, BET shows and Atlanta-based Tyler Perry Studios. Perry, who made the 2021 list, is the only entertainer in the top 10 who is a billionaire, the outlet reported. Ahead of her appearance at the Consumer Electronics Show this Thursday in Las Vegas, Deadline talked to CAA Chief Metaverse Officer Joanna Popper about preparing the organization and its clients to be metaverse ready, and the significance of the agency’s recent investment (through Connect Ventures, an investment partnership with New Enterprise Associates) in Deep Voodoo, the artificial intelligence startup formed by Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

THQ Nordic teased another South Park video game at the end of its digital showcase yesterday (August 12) in collaboration with South Park Digital Studios.The reveal came right at the end of the stream, when THQ Nordic said it has 26 unannounced games still in development, which it then scratched out and reduced to 25 after showing the South Park Digital Studios logo alongside audio of South Park character Randy Marsh screaming “Hot hot hot hot”.The exact moment in the stream can be seen below.As of publication (August 13), it’s unclear what platforms this game will be on, or if it will be similar to other major Triple-A games in the franchise.In recent years, South Park has stuck to RPGs. 2014’s The Stick Of Truth was developed by Obsidian Entertainment in collaboration with South Park Digital Studios, while 2017’s The Fractured But Whole was developed by Ubisoft San Francisco.However, a new video game in the televisionfranchise was mentioned by creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone back in 2021. Rush, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, reunited to perform onstage together at the second evening of South Park‘s 25th anniversary shows in Colorado this week.Appearing at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Wednesday night (August 10), Lee and Lifeson played a rendition of ‘Closer to the Heart’, from the band’s fifth studio album, 1977’s ‘A Farewell to Kings’.Marking their first performance since the death of their Rush bandmate, drummer Neil Peart, in early 2020, the pair were joined by Primus along with South Park co-creator Matt Stone who played drums. The 14-minute short finds a deepfake Donald Trump, voiced by Peter Serafinowicz, reporting news out of Cheyenne, Wyoming under the eponymous moniker. The project was the first bit of content to come out of Deep Voodoo, Stone and Parker’s deepfake production studio.Stone and Parker said at the time that “Sassy Justice” came about because “we just wanted to make fun of [deepfakes] because it makes it less scary,” but it turns out the project had its roots in a full-length Donald Trump deepfake movie that Parker and Stone were working on and then scrapped because of the pandemic.
