Sleaford Mods frontman Jason Williamson has spoken to NME about the band’s new material, their £5 tickets for fans on low incomes, his own working-class roots, Oasis’ reunion, his past feud with Noel Gallagher and his thoughts on Keir Starmer’s performance as Prime Minister so far.Williamson was speaking ahead of the Abbey Road Music Photography Awards (MPAs), for which he’d been a judge alongside the likes of founding judge Rankin and Gossip’s Beth Ditto. Sleaford Mods have released two previously unheard tracks, ‘Git Some Balls’ and ‘Air Con’.The tracks, one a reworking of previous song, ‘Air Conditioning’, come ahead of the 10th anniversary reissue of ‘Divide & Exit’, which is out on Friday 26 July.‘Git Some Balls’ was written and recorded by the duo during the sessions for the album, complete with Jason Williamson’s impression of The Ghostbusters’ siren. He described the track as “one of those studio floor clippings that we didn’t feel quite hit the mark at the time, but today sounds great”.It is now available for the first time on streaming services, and will also feature on a one-off flexi-disc with limited edition copies of the reissue of their 2014 record.“We knew what we wanted for the album, and we didn’t feel this was quite right for ‘Divide and Exit’,” said Williamson.

Fat White Family’s Lias Saoudi laid into IDLES’ Joe Talbot during a riotous set at Glastonbury‘s Woodsies stage today (June 29).Saoudi, sporting skin coloured mesh tights, poked fun at IDLES’ set on the Other stage last night (June 28), during which Talbot led a chant of “Fuck the King!” and inadvertently took part in a Banksy-assisted protest.Before a rendition of ‘I Am Mark E Smith’, Saodui dryly announced: “This is a song about my feminist zeal – it’s called ‘I am Joe Talbot'”, and later acknowledged the chants at IDLES set by saying: “God save the King! Fuck off”.It’s not the first time the bands have come to blows. Check out upcoming shows and ticket details below.Announced today (May 20), the new re-release comes in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the album, and sees the band recall the legacy of the 2014 LP.Originally shared back in May 2014, the album marked the second official album from Andrew Fearn and Jason Williamson – or their sixth if taking early CD-R efforts into account.

Orbital have announced details of their 2024 UK and Ireland tour.The band, which consists of Kent brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll, will tour their 1991 self-titled debut (also known as the ‘Green Album’). The track ‘Belfast’ from the record appeared in the soundtrack to the seminal Cool Cymru film Human Traffic (1999). Blur have announced that Sleaford Mods and Phil Daniels will be the latest acts joining them at their upcoming shows at Wembley Stadium.The long-awaited shows are set to take place on Saturday July 8 and Sunday July 9, and come ahead of the band’s upcoming ninth studio album ‘The Ballad Of Darren’ — set for release on July 21 via Parlophone and Warner (pre-order here).The first of the two new acts joining the bill is Nottingham post-punk band, Sleaford Mods.
