The trailer for the final season of The Umbrella Academy is here!

Emiliano De Pablos Germany’s Pixable Studios has boarded coming of age “Finisterra,” one of the TV series projects which Portuguese outfit Take It Easy is promoting at this year’s Conecta Fiction & Entertainment edition. Lisbon-based Take It Easy produced Oscar-shortlisted LGBTQ+ live action short “An Avocado Pit,” executive produced by Elliot Page. “Finisterra” has just entered into post-production and will be ready for delivery by January.

D.W. Waterson’s cheer drama Backspot, also produced by Elliot Page under Page Boy Productions, aims to tell a more well-rounded and ambitious story about the seemingly glamorous but occupationally hazardous world of competitive cheerleading. The film follows Riley (Devery Jacobs), an ambitious cheerleader hell-bent on perfection, as she, alongside her girlfriend (Kudakwashe Rutendo) and their best friend (Noa DiBertro), land highly competitive spots on a prestigious all-star cheerleading squad led by an overbearing head coach (Evan Rachel Wood) and her presiding assistant coach Thomas Antony Olajide). The film acts as a multi-hyphenate social commentary on queerness, mental health and coming-of-age tale for young women in sports. 

We just got our first official glimpse at the fourth and final season of Netflix’s Umbrella Academy, and it’s bringing the famous siblings back for another big mission!

Selena Kuznikov Netflix has released the teaser trailer for the fourth and final season of its superhero series “The Umbrella Academy.” The footage, set to the tune of Europe’s 1986 song “The Final Countdown,” sees the Hargreeves siblings stepping out of their regular lives, prepping to band together one last time. Based on the graphic novel series written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá, the beloved series follows a family of adopted siblings with superpowers working to prevent the end of the world. This season, the Hargreeves are confronted with a new trial: living a normal life.

Carly Rae Jepsen, Elliot Page, Neil Young and Alanis Morissette have signed the letter, titled Artists Against Anti-Trans Legislation In Canada.Led by indie pop siblings Tegan and Sara, the letter highlighted how “far right groups are tapping into fear and pitting us against each other so they can create a Canada where we’re afraid of difference”, while using trans people as their “punching bag” and “convenient scapegoat”.The letter, published on Trans Day of Visibility, continued: “For those outside of Canada, the country is often seen as a human rights haven. In his first film role since coming out as a trans man, the actor has evidently brought much of his own identity and experience to this sensitively observed story of a trans man cagily reunited with his family after a five-year period of estrangement.

Selome Hailu The animated series based on Studio WildCard’s “Ark: Survival Evolved” video game finally has a platform attached. The first six episodes of Season 1 surprise dropped on Paramount+ on Thursday, with the remaining seven episodes set for a later date. Spanning eons of human history, “Ark: The Animated Series” follows 21st century paleontologist Helena Walker (voiced by Madeleine Madden), who finds herself resurrected on a mysterious primeval island populated by prehistoric beasts.

Surprise! The first six episodes of Ark: The Animated Series, based on the hit adventure video game Ark: Survival Evolved, are available to stream now exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and Canada. The series will debut in all other Paramount+ international markets starting April 19. The seven-episode Part 2 of the season will be released at a later date. Watch the promo below.

Elliot Page stepped out for the 2024 BFI Flare film festival premiere of his new movie Close to You held at BFI Southbank on Thursday (March 14) in London.

Alex Ritman Elliot Page has taken aim at the notion that queer films only have a small audience. Speaking at the BFI Flare, London’s LGBTQ film festival, the actor claimed that “30% of young people identify as LGBTQ,” referring to a survey released earlier this year about Gen Z adults in the U.S. “So I’m sorry, but this is not niche.” Page was in London with his latest feature “Close to You,” which had its European premiere as the BFI Flare opening night film on Thursday.

Alex Ritman Elliot Page heads to the U.K on Thursday to open the BFI Flare, London’s LGBTQIA+ film festival, for the European premiere of “Close to You.” Written and directed by Dominic Savage (behind the recent acclaimed “I Am…” anthology series that has starred the likes of Kate Winslet and Letitia Wright), the film — which bowed in Toronto — marks Page’s first feature since 2017. It’s a return to the big screen he says “felt amazing,” allowing him to experience the “joy of what it means to get to create and being creative.” It was also an acting experience unlike anything Page had undertaken before, with much of “Close to You” improvised.
