Former Wigan Warriors player and assistant coach Paul Deacon has backed Matty Peet to prove a success alongside Shaun Wane at the DW Stadium.
Peet was most recently on Adrian Lam’s staff as an assistant, having previously been involved in the Warriors’ youth set-up, but has been promoted to head coach ahead of the 2022 Super League season.
He will be assisted by Wigan icon Sean O’Loughlin, who retired at the end of 2020 to join the coaching staff, and former Warrington Wolves player and assistant coach Lee Briers.
Wane, who oversaw three Super League Grand Final wins as Warriors head coach, has taken up the position of leadership and management director, combining that with his job as England head coach.
