The nickname Prince Philip had for the Queen, however, sounds a little odder than the others. During their marriage, Prince Philip referred to the Queen as ‘Cabbage’, reported Town and Country Mag.

It seemed at one point like it could just be a strange rumour, before Robert Lacey, a royal biographer, appeared to confirm it in an interview with The Sunday Times.

He said: “"Yes, I've heard that is how he will sometimes refer to her. " It is believed the nickname may have originated from a phrase in French - “mon petit chou” - which means “my little cabbage”.
