Olivia Colman fears Queen hates her portrayal on The Crown after fan backlash

Olivia Colman is solid gold TV royalty – but criticism of the way she portrayed the Queen in The Crown got her blue blood boiling.

The actress, who takes to the throne in the third ­series of the hit Netflix show, faced a backlash from die-hard fans who slated her accent and branded her performance “boring”.

But Olivia, 46, has had the last laugh after being nominated for an Emmy for the role. Becoming Queen Elizabeth II was quite a challenge, however.

Olivia, who picked up an Oscar for playing Queen Anne in 2018 movie, The Favourite, said: “It’s definitely more daunting to play someone who everyone knows. “The beauty of Queen Anne is that no one can tell me she didn’t sound like that, but everyone can tell me what the Queen sounds like,
