April whiteout with several inches of snow set to fall across the UK from London to Aberdeen this week. With the snow bomb also comes a dramatic drop in temperatures following a week of scorching sun.

Advanced weather modelling maps from WX Charts show that the snow will come on Wednesday, moving southward to cover the whole country by the end of Thursday.

Scotland will bear the initial brunt of the Arctic plume, with two to three inches of snow settling on the ground across Highland areas and near to Inverness and Aberdeen.Edinburgh and Glasgow will also see a few centimetres this week.A similar dumping will occur in northern parts of England as Wednesday moves into Thursday, and as Thursday progresses the Midlands, Wales and East Anglia should see one or two inches.According to WX Charts, by Thursday evening the snow front will hit the capital and southern-central regions, where one or two centimetres will remain on the ground into Friday.

Consequently, Ladbrokes have reduced odds of an early Spring whiteout down to 2-1.Alex Apati, a spokesperson for the bookies, told the Express: "Brits may have been treated to a scorching few days but we're strapping ourselves in for the potential of April snow with temperatures heading in the wrong direction at the back end of this month."WX Charts reckon the mercury may drop as low as -6C in Scotland this week as the chilly weather takes hold.
