The number of UK workers on payrolls fell by more than 600,000 between March and May as lockdown hit Britain's labour market, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Meanwhile, the number of vacancies in May has fallen to a record low. ONS estimates show a drop of approximately 60% in vacancies for May 2020 compared with March 2020.

The number of people claiming employment support rose to 2.8 million - this includes both those employed with low income or hours and those who are unemployed.
