That’s what we thought was most important.” Following the confirmation that Araiza had been let go by the Bills, Beane added: “We decided that releasing Matt Araiza was the best thing to do.”The rookie had been drafted by the Bills in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft following standout performances for San Diego State University, where he was the country’s top college punter.
The Bills said they were unaware of the allegations before signing him.The Bills had released Matt Haack, the team’s punter in 2021, last Monday with Araiza given the job for the 2022 season.
As a result of his departure from the team there are no punters on their current roster.“Our culture in Buffalo is more important than winning football games,” Beane continued. “Ultimately we thought it was best for everybody.
