Steve Bruce has earned the right be given a chance in his role by Newcastle's soon-to-be new owners, according to ex-Arsenal playmaker Paul Merson, who doesn't see Mauricio Pochettino as the right man for the job.
Despite being tipped for a relegation struggle, Bruce has guided the Magpies to nine wins and eight draws from their 28 games so far this season.
With the Tynesiders sitting eight points clear of the drop zone, speculation has been mounting on who would succeed the former Manchester United defender if he is sacked by the new regime.
Rafa Benitez has been touted for a return to St. James's Park, while former Tottenham manager Pochettino has also been heavily linked with the role.
