Newcastle fans should not expect instant success if Mike Ashley ends up selling the club in the coming days. That is the warning given by former West Ham striker Tony Cottee, who has pointed to the example of Manchester City to highlight his point.
Reports claim Ashley is on the brink of selling the club after 13 years at the helm for £300million to PCP Partners. Fans have been crying out for him to get out of their club for a long time and are now dreaming of a period of sustained success at St James Park.
However, Cottee has warned Newcastle fans they should not expect instant results and used City as an example, who took four years to win the Premier League after being taken over in 2008.
