Newcastle United are confident Aston Villa will not de-rail their bid to land Callum Wilson – because the England striker wants a move to Tyneside.
Battle lines were drawn over the forward on Saturday when Villa tabled a bid with Bournemouth worth £21million. That left the Cherries' hit-man with a decision to make after Newcastle made the first move for the 28-year-old striker.
They thought they had snared their man after a £17million offer was accepted on Friday. Villa had also interested but had been keen on a fee that was heavily-weighted towards performances and other add-ons.
But once it became clear the Magpies were leading the chase, they upped their offer – leaving their target with a decision to make.
