Newcastle are ready to hand the honour to new signing Callum Wilson, who has proven to be a regular scorer at Premier League level during his time with Bournemouth.
Joelinton could only manage four goals in his debut season after joining from Hoffenheim for a club record fee of £40m, with only half of those coming in the league.Wilson, 28, netted seven goals last time out as the Cherries were relegated, having scored 14 in the previous campaign.
According to the Telegraph, the decision regarding the No.9 shirt will be made to take pressure off of Joelinton, with Steve Bruce mentioning in the summer that he doesn’t see the Brazilian as a central striker.
